Rain, hail, high winds hit Oregon

(AP) — A late summer storm that brought heavy rain, hail and winds gusting as high as 70 miles per hour to parts of Oregon is being blamed for a partial roof collapse at a former Portland auto shop. The Oregonian reports (http://is.gd/FK7zKS ) that heavy rain was cited in the Thursday night damage at the now-closed business. The National Weather Service says more than 1 ½ inches of rain fell in an hour northeast of Eugene in the Willamette Valley while hail the size of quarters and winds gusting to 70 mph were reported near the central Oregon city of Sisters.
