DC suburbs dominate state sales in record Powerball jackpot

SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) — Records show that retailers in the Washington suburbs dominated state sales in the unprecedented $1.6 billion Powerball jackpot. Records show that a beer and wine store in Montgomery County sold the most tickets of any of the state's more than 4,000 lottery retailers during the Powerball ball roll, which began Nov. 4.

January was record-setting month for Florida Lottery

Lottery officials said in a news release the record is thanks in part to sales generated during the rollovers that resulted in the $1.5 billion Powerball jackpot drawing on Jan. 13. The news release states that lottery officials are expected to transfer $213 million to the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund for January.
