N.O. woman charged in alleged financial aid fraud

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A New Orleans woman has been charged in federal court with fraudulently obtaining nearly $200,000 in financial aid funds from several universities. Prosecutors said 33-year-old Renata Foreman applied for admission and financial aid under the names of nine other people without their knowledge or consent. Foreman was charged Friday in a bill of information with theft of government funds, mail fraud and identity theft. Prosecutors also accused her of using falsified high school graduation information and forged transcripts to get admitted to the schools she allegedly defrauded.
