(AP) — A weeklong search for a Missouri couple wanted in a series of robberies and abductions across the South ended with one suspect dead and the other wounded Friday, after authorities say they chased the pair across the highway and through a rural neighborhood and exchanged gunfire with them in Florida's Panhandle.

Missouri defends law capping cities' traffic ticket revenue

(AP) — Twelve cities are arguing a state law capping how much revenue municipalities can draw from traffic tickets unfairly singles out the St. Louis area and violates the state constitution. The attorney general's office argued that cities aren't required to have a police department because they can contract services from other law enforcement agencies.
