Man dead after Long Island residential fire

SHIRLEY, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a man has died in a Long Island residential fire. Suffolk County police say the fire at a detached garage was reported at 3:17 a.m. Sunday in Shirley. They say that after the fire was put out, rescuers found the body in an apartment in the garage. The victim's name was not immediately released.
