Chicago getting $245,000 for youth programs

CHICAGO (AP) — The city of Chicago is getting more than $245,000 from the U.S. Department of Justice to help implement strategies to reduce youth violence. In a news release, U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin announced on Tuesday the funds will be used to update the city's youth violence reduction strategy, which includes smart policing, prevention and intervention programs. Funds will also go to community partnerships, and strategies to make it more difficult for young people to get firearms.
