That was quick! Flyers fire Laviolette after 0-3 start

PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Flyers fired coach Peter Laviolette after an 0-3 start and a preseason vote of confidence from ownership, a person familiar with the decision told The Associated Press on Monday. Laviolette was dismissed a year after the Flyers missed the playoffs in a lockout-shortened season. Laviolette was hired early in the 2009 season after John Stevens was fired.
