Jonathan Papelbon Ks two for 24th save

Phillies closer Jonathan Papelbon gave up two hits in the ninth inning Monday night at home against the Nationals. Entering in a 3-2 ballgame, Papelbon managed to keep the score that way for his 24th save. Papelbon struck out the final two batters he faced the earn the save with two runners on. He needed 17 pitches and his ERA is now at 2.39 after the scoreless appearance. The closer has earned saves in three straight games and has given up just two over his last 10 contests. He's been solid down the stretch for Philadelphia despite having some mid-season struggles.
