Stocks Slips From Record Highs on Investor Caution

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Major U.S. stock markets began Friday's trading session on a weak note as investors proceeded with caution after a jump to record highs was followed by disappointing earnings from Google and Microsoft. Negative sentiment was being offset with the help of better-than-expected quarterly reports from General Electric Schlumberger and Honeywell . The S&P 500 was slipping 0.24% to 1,685.30.
