Hong Kong stocks rise on Cyprus news; Sinopec up

HONG KONG (MarketWatch) -- Hong Kong stocks opened to strong gains Monday as reports that Cyprus and its international lenders have agreed on a bailout deal lifted investor spirits, with China Construction Bank Corp. leading Chinese banks after reporting earnings. The benchmark Hang Seng Index rose 0.9% to 22,310.81 and the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index added 1.3% to 11,039.18. Shares of heavyweight bank HSBC Holdings PLC climbed 0.5%, while among Chinese lenders, shares of CCB climbed 1.6% after its 2012 profits rose 14%.
